About Me

Hi, I’m Laura!

Intensely optimistic and with an insatiably curious mind, I love to sift through the details and focus on the big picture. I didn’t start out fearless, but a series of life events transformed me into the can’t stop-won’t- stop person I am today.

Where others see a problem, I see a puzzle.

My approach is simple: piece by piece and never alone!

A challenge is just a puzzle. There’s a definite way to solve it, but it takes breaking it down, creating a frame, and slowly assembling the picture one piece at a time. This is where I excel.

I prefer action. When stuck, I know there is someone who holds the knowledge, expertise, or guidance to help me find the way forward. A.B.C.: Action breeds clarity; and moving forward little by little unlocks progress.

So what does this have to do with community? I’m glad you asked!

I believe we are created for interdependence. On our own we do not become our best selves. To grow we cannot remain siloed in our own thoughts.

People are at the core of everything I do. Quite simply I care about making lives better and the world a kinder place. Helping children, helping parents, strengthening relationships. Building a more equitable society, creating a sustainable future, and improving global health – if these things are important to you, chances are we’ll get along and I’d love to know more.

Laura Zug and Family

My best days start at o dark thirty with coffee and solitude. Just me, my cuddly cavapoo, my prayers, and my reMarkable. When I’m not crafting strategies for go-getter entrepreneurs, you can find me at Pilates, strolling through my neighborhood with a friend and our dogs, or laughing in the kitchen with my family.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

We are so grateful to Laura Zug and the work she has done for our non-profit, the Chicago Feeding Group. She took a personal interest in our board and used this information to offer guidance and help our group clarify its mission and set meaningful goals.  We highly recommend Laura and cannot say enough about her dedication to our organization.

My Guiding Principles

Kindness overall.

Trust The Process

I commit to showing up every day and learning one small thing. I keep my eye focused on the next right step, trusting that doing it well will move me closer to the goal.

Widen Your Scope

What we experience in life is not meant for us alone. We were each given experiences and talents to share with others and change the world for good.

Connection Matters

Uniting your voice with others is a powerful way to create progress and change. We can do more together than we could ever imagine doing alone.

Excellence Always

I aim to go above and beyond, bringing my best to all I do. I see things through until they are finished and make me proud.

Welcome Doubt

Confusion is my friend; it makes me rethink, reconsider, and re-evaluate. I often ask myself, “What would I do today if I were the most curious person in the world? What don’t I know that I need to know?” By remaining curious, the next best solution is always at my fingertips.

Lead With Empathy

If at the end of the day I have shown up and been kind to a fellow human being, it has been a good day and I have done enough.

Let’s do what community people do best!
